Hi, To understand protected mode first you need to know Assembly language
and to understand the real mode. If you are already in this level, I
recommend the book "Protected Mode Software Architecture", from Tom Shanley.
I have this book and I read it. I understood PM from there. I bought it
about 1 year ago from Amazon.com. It is a very good book, but it is only
suitable for whom already know well real mode assembly programing.

Hi there,

I wanted to know how to switch the Intel CPUs in protected mode from
the real mode & vice versa.
I want to understand the theory behind it as well as the programming
aspects of it.

Pls. see if anyone can help me.
Any good online reference will also do.

Thanks in advance,
