That's not a timer which counts monitor retraces, is it? I used that
technique in a game and it runs at a different speed on various
computers, depending on video card/monitor (*NOT* on CPU, trust me -
it was running *much faster* on an old 486 than it was on a
Pentium-233. Take out the retrace check and the Pentium hoons).
