In general, yes. The rules of news groups generally require that you
read the FAQ and don't ask questions that are already epxlained there.
We don't enforce these rules here, but please don't abuse that.

It is always easier to ask a question and expect others to do the
digging in the FAQ for you. But I don't consider that a nice
behavior, and neither should you. Please keep in mind that when you
ask a question from the FAQ, people who answer you waste their time
looking up the FAQ for you, by and large they don't know those answers
by heart (even I don't). So you simply trade your time for theirs.
The FAQ was intended to be easy to search. There's the Table of
Contents at the beginning and two large indices at the end of it.
They should land you on the right spot very quickly. If they don't,
please tell here and the FAQ will be improved in the next release.

It is. But the FAQ is written for newbies, not for oldies. When you
``get to know the program'', you usually don't need the FAQ anymore.
