If I may add my add my two cents in here, I think that using another
format (i.e. not Zip) may be a good idea. First off, there's the obvious
benefit of saving download time, which is a Good Thing. But, it would
also eliminate the installing woes that many people seem to be having.

It seems that a number of people are having trouble setting up DJGPP
because: 1. The Unzip program is bungling the LFNs, or 2. Not restoring
the directory structure, so, if say, a not-so-common compression scheme
is used, people will be forced to download a decompression program from
wherever they get everything else, it can be assured that LFNs and
directory structures are handled correctly (since no one will be able to
use a braindead program)

Well, hope this makes sense.
