That's because you are not using projects. The support for compilation
without using projects is poorly tested (Robert never uses it). In fact 1.4
have a bug that works like this:
If you create default settings (rhide.g* files) the Run is grayed.
Just use projects and all will work OK.

I think you have 2 files with the same name located in some special
directories. Each time RHIDE calls an external program saves the files under
edition and after running the program checks if the file was modified and
reloads it. I think that's what you call "itself". But don't know what
exactly are you doing.

1) is very common, the mouse problems seems to be related to some
combinations of video board + mouse driver, in my system it never happends.
About 2: Try to pay attention when it happends and report it to Robert.
I think 1.4.6 is currently more stable than 1.4, but you should check it.
