What DPMI-Server you are using on DOS?

That's normal after a crash.

This switch has nothing to do with the mouse. Try the '-M' switch.
BTW: Somtimes it is usfull to run rhide with the following switch:
rhide -h
which will print out some information about all the available
commandline switches and a short description. And the please
try these switches if they solve your problem and AFTER doing
so, please let me know (success or not), because for me
it is impossible to imagine any hard- and software config
of the users.
