You can use GhostScript, available at ftp.cs.wisc.edu in the /ghost/aladdin
directory. It's free software, but they use a different license than GPL.
GhostScript used to be "just print/view a readable document" tool. However
the latest distribution includes a set of commercial quality type-1 fonts,
making very nice printed document. The screen viewer is still less than
perfect.
