Hello everyone,
many of us know that a ram drive could improve a lot the compiler
speed.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a ram drive like we really need.
At least, I didn't found a device driver with the specs I'm going to
describe.
In my opinion it would be better that ram drive use memory only when
it's required.
At the moment, all existing ramdrives allocate the memory and then his
usage is reserved.
But what about using only the exact memory required for storing files?
When files are deleted, that memory could be released, so our programs
can use it.
This remember me the RAM: disk in the Amiga systems, in other words, a
"dynamic" ram disk.
I haven't found something with this feature in the net, no SYSs, no
VXDs, no WDMs.
But I think it would be great to have that, it could stay installed
for ever in our systems, because it doesn't use memory until we copy
something into it.
As I wrote before, I didn't found such drivers,... maybe you know if
there is something similar hidden somewhere...
Because I believe it's really possible to make that.
Sincerely,
Carlo
