There is something that sound important.  How would I know, if that
converstion
took place?  And what "havoc" could it wreak?

I think that most options/"features" are "settable".

Im not sure that im following you here, because I see the directory names in
the
version of winzip that I use. (Ver. 8.0).   I just recently switched from
v2.70, and
I was able to see all the directories in the winzip window in that version.

I have never tried to delete a directory, while the files are still
compressed.
I'll have to try this and see what happens.
