I'd just like to point something you seem to be missing: OpenGl is great,
but it is designed to work with _hardware_-based rendering. It sux for
software-based rendering. DirectX is much better at this point (but it's
crap, I know...).
If Allegro were to grow to incorporate OpenGl, it would need to feature a
full-blown software-based rendering engine. Isn't it a bit too much to ask?
Perhaps someone out there could write such a thing in a way that we can use
the gfx library of our choice. Allegro's great, but it lacks support for
15-24 bit modes.
Just some thougths, anyway.
