Kai-Martin,

I used gsymcheck before I started to add some custom attributes to my
symbols. After those attribute additions, gsymcheck would error on those
attributes, so I could not use it as a last check before using the
symbol. I was hoping to use gsymcheck in a script to verify all of my
custom symbols before packaging them and releasing them for use. When it
failed, I attempted to look at modifying gsymcheck to allow adding
custom attributes in addition to the "canned" attributes, but I got
bogged down in learning the gEDA library and how things worked. It
became too much trouble. So I quit that task to just rely on my brain to
check symbols from then on. Too bad. It could have been a nice tool.

Actually, gaf does some such checking and it seems to accept my custom
attributes without complaining - at least in the "export" function I use
for printing. I have not tried to use it to check my symbols, however.
So much to do, so little time...

Girvin
