As with all design tasks, the hard part is not the mechanics. It is to know what you want. It takes quite a bit of experience to come up with an original, yet pleasing design. Roland adapted the git-scm dokuwiki template for his mock-up. IMHO, this was a good choice. Start with a proven design and tweak it to suit your specific needs.
