I have read the FAQ and followed the instructions (to untar ...) At the beginning gcc didn't work either but I found out that it was looking at non-existent directories. The solution was to to mkdir /usr/local/pgcc/lib and to add there a link named gcc-lib which points to /usr/lib/gcc-lib. Now, the problem is that g77 makes an executable from a demo hello.for which causes a segmentation fault. From "g77 -v" info my guess is that it can't find the right assembler. Note that I am not on the mailing list, so if anyone has an answer or a link with installation instructions please send me a copy of the answer at agiotis AT central DOT ntua DOT gr. Thanks! I have attached a g77 -v text file. ------=_NextPart_000_0004_01BF3C41.582BF5C0 Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="g77_v" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="g77_v" g77 version pgcc-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release) (from FSF-g77 = version 0.5.24-19981002)=0A= Driving: g77 -v -c -xf77-version /dev/null -xnone=0A= Reading specs from = /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/specs=0A= gcc version pgcc-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release)=0A= /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/cpp -lang-c = -v -undef -D__GNUC__=3D2 -D__GNUC_MINOR__=3D91 -D__ELF__ -D__unix__ = -D__i386__ -D__i386__ -D__linux__ -D__unix -D__i386 -D__linux = -Asystem(posix) -D_LANGUAGE_FORTRAN -traditional -Asystem(unix) = -Acpu(i386) -Amachine(i386) -Di386 -D__i386 -D__i386__ -Di586 -Dpentium = -D__i586 -D__i586__ -D__pentium -D__pentium__ /dev/null /dev/null=0A= GNU CPP version pgcc-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release) (i386 = Linux/ELF)=0A= #include "..." search starts here:=0A= #include <...> search starts here:=0A= /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/include=0A= /usr/include=0A= End of search list.=0A= /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/f771 = -fnull-version -quiet -dumpbase g77-version.f -version -fversion -o = /tmp/ccVslQgI.s /dev/null=0A= GNU F77 version pgcc-2.91.66 19990314 (egcs-1.1.2 release) = (i586-pc-linux-gnu) compiled by GNU C version pgcc-2.91.66 19990314 = (egcs-1.1.2 release).=0A= GNU Fortran Front End version 0.5.24-19981002=0A= as -V -Qy -o /tmp/cc2WcQYh.o /tmp/ccVslQgI.s=0A= GNU assembler version 2.9.1 (i386-redhat-linux), using BFD version = 2.9.1.0.24=0A= ld -m elf_i386 -dynamic-linker /lib/ld-linux.so.2 -o /tmp/ccJV8qqT = /tmp/cc2WcQYh.o /usr/lib/crt1.o /usr/lib/crti.o = /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/crtbegin.o = -L/usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66 = -L/usr/local/pgcc/lib -lg2c -lm -lgcc -lc -lgcc = /usr/local/pgcc/lib/gcc-lib/i586-pc-linux-gnu/pgcc-2.91.66/crtend.o = /usr/lib/crtn.o=0A= /tmp/ccJV8qqT=0A= g77: Internal compiler error: program /tmp/ccJV8qqT got fatal signal 11=0A= ------=_NextPart_000_0004_01BF3C41.582BF5C0--
