My target is to install and use the optimized for pentium compiler. All I did is to download the egcs-1.1.1 release. Then I unzipped it with gzip -d and finally I untarred it. The result is that now I've a three of directories and files into the dir where I untarred but I do not know what to do. I tried to compile a test programm doing g77 "namefile" -o try It works and it creates the try file, but when I give try it says "command not found" What do I have to do? Am I using the egcs compiler or something pre-existing before the download? Shall I have to configure something? Thanks for your attention and sorry for my "beginner level" speaking PS I'M NOT IN THE MAILING LIST!! TULLIO
