In your post, you mentioned memory penalties. Would you please elucidate a bit? Since my system was originally a win95 machine, I am sure that I am running a fat32 partition. To what extent were you able to improve upon conventional memory? Are you able to multi-task, I.E. are you able to run multiple applications using shell features or some sort of a hot key? Before I begin experimentation, I would first like to get an idea as to what I might be getting into.
