No, I haven't heard of any problems using SyQuest drives under DR-DOS 7.xx yet. Anyone else? Unfortunately, I also don't have any original SyQuest drives for testing - still looking to obtain some of them to complete my test lab's hardware collection. Further, I am afraid I am not aware of this RCS.ZIP patch you mentioned, but if someone has it, I would certainly like to have a copy for my own archives. Still, I assume, the problems mentioned in the cited document would only apply to DR DOS 6.0 and earlier. Mind, that these old issues of DR DOS were still built around a heavily modified kind of "CP/M-86" kernel coated with a DOS emulation layer, and many undocumented internal data structures of MS-DOS, like, for example, the CDS array, were only faked (mostly read-only) in order to make some dirty applications work. This has changed alot with the introduction of BDOS 7.0 and higher, that is NetWare PalmDOS 1.0, DR DOS "Panther" and "StarTrek", DR DOS 6.0 business update 1993, Novell DOS 7, Caldera OpenDOS 7.01, as well as DR-DOS 7.02 and higher. These "new" generations of DR-DOS all use natively MS-DOS compatible internal data structures and have a genuine CDS array, so drivers and applications patching around in these internal data structures should in almost all cases work exactly the same under DR-DOS as they do under MS-DOS or PC DOS. Of course, there are still differences at detail level. I haven't had any problems using various other (non-Syquest) removable cartridge disks under DR-DOS, so, in order to track down the problem, have you cross-checked this under MS-DOS or PC DOS? Have you tried the lastest version of your Adaptec SCSI drivers? Please also try to load the drivers without memory managers loaded, just to load them under a completely different memory layout. Hope it helps, Matthias -- ; http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs180/mpdokeng.html; http://mpaul.drdos.org "Programs are poems for computers."
