Well, Novell DOS 7 is quite old now. However, first thing to check
is whether your "Novell DOS 7" includes all the updates. You
might still be able to obtain these from Novell's web site (probably
as a single file package).

I have not used Novell DOS 7 much, so I don't know if this (together
with it's applicable updates) is more compatible/stable than DR-DOS
7.03. Perhaps someone else can comment. However, I would expect
DR-DOS 7.03 to have better compatibility/stability, since Novell DOS
is an older member of the DR-DOS family.

I notice you mention that M$-DOS with HiMem is sufficient to run
your application successfully. Are you doing the equivalent in Novell
DOS, or are you loading EMM386? The only similar problems I have
encountered with DR-DOS 7.XX have involved EMM386, so if you
are using it and don't need to, try just using HiMem instead. Otherwise
you could use EMM386, but disable it's DPMI feature, since this was
apparently problematic in Novell DOS 7 (the M$ version of EMM386
had no DPMI capability, so you obviously don't require it).
