I think that the patch simply uses the IO.SYS from the EBD. Now it uses config.sys and autoexec.bat, but while trying to load QEMM 97, it hangs, probably due a conflict with the built-in XMS memory manager. Since I need QEMM in order to run Desqview, it is very important for me to disable that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arkady V.Belousov" To: Sent: Saturday, September 14, 2002 6:04 PM Subject: Re: HIMEM.SYS and DOS 8 > X-Comment-To: Guti > > Hi! > > 14-σΕΞ-2002 17:46 guti AT bbs-ce DOT uab DOT es (Guti) wrote to : > > G> How can I disable the automatically loaded HIMEM.SYS under MSDOS 8.0 (Windows > G> ME)? > G> As far I know it is automatically loaded by IO.SYS, but maybe there is an > G> easy trick/patch or setting under MSDOS.SYS to disable it. > G> I need to unload it, because I need QEMM in order to run DesqView! > > MS-DOS 8 (from Win Me) ignores config.sys and autoexec.bat, AFAIK, and > gets settings from registry.
