The above is correct, but the time is (IIRC) 5 sec on most BIOSes and can in some cases be set. I use a main power switch for the monitor, the computer and the speakers. I can't remember how much an average ATX case uses in power consumption when "shut down" but as a total of all unused time the computers (and VCRs, stereos etc.) uses power it's quite much. IIRC if germans didn't do this they could scrap a nuclear reactor. However I don't think they can construct another hotel since this one is used (AFAICR it was in germany they reconstructed an unused plant into a hotel). //Bernie
