M$WIN9x requires DOS to run, but it turns off all the DOS drivers in config.sys when the GUI starts. Go figure. I don't understand how a company can support M$WIN9x with drivers and not provide driver support for DOS. Typical Bill Gates mentality; ie: My way or the highway.
