Is there an advantage to using the above software?? Since most of our machines sit on a local network, we use DHCP support from a linux box on the same backbone. If you use the telnet and ftp plugins with arachne, you have to either assign static IPs on each client :-( or have BOOTP support from somewhere. Fortunately, the DHCP software in linux still provides support for BOOTP. The plugins are versions of NCSA Telnet from the University of Illinois, tweaked at Clarkson College, and don't have DHCP support. The "Phone" package from the University of Minnesota has a nice user interface and supports slip and will grap the ip out of the data stream.
