I can't explain his problems but I find it unlikely to blaim the drives. My guess is on power failure, broken I/O cable or incorrect jumper settings. (Been there, done that - doing it all the time ). Something else that I also know will cause this (but I've only done it once) is to set the I/O cable in reverse, either i the HD or in the motherboard (or controller card in the odd event that you have one). //Bernie
