There's an accompanying note with the drives - undependent of brand - that gives you some information, personally I never RTFM. Anyway, the point I was going to make is that I still can't see where the problem is, even if I would need help I would only call the company where I bought it and ask them. >I classify Quantum with Conner junk and >would give Conner the edge because they were honest and did not charge >for customer support. Conner junk? I have one that still works good (a whooping 250MB from the early 90's). >Now that I got that out of my system. You should stick to one brand of >hard drives with IDE. This is the second mail where you claim this Pat. I have never ever seen nor heard of any problems with mixing HD brands. Personally I've used the following: IBM, Seagate (2 IIRC) and Quantum and Conner. No matter how these have been mixed it has *always* worked without any problems what so ever. Perhaps this was a problem of the past but this is my advice to everyone: Buy the HD that gives you best performence and size vs. prize (currently that's an IBM UDMA100 46.1GB here in Sweden). >I have even written to drive manufactures and >asked them if such and such drive from another manufacture will be fully >compatible and even they cannot answer that question. Probably because they've never heard of such a problem ;-) //Bernie
