I don't mean to be cruel here, but if the so-called ATAPI STANDARD is so standard they why is Utz having problems with two APATI devices? We are not even talking about ZIP or LS-120 drives here, we are talking about two supposedly satndard ATAPI drives. That tells me that after over ten years of IDE that they still cannot get their ^&%$ together. As for the so-called ATA STANDARD look at the problem White Dragon is having with his so-called ATA standard IBM and Quantum drives. We still are not talking about ZIP and LS-120 drives. As far as I am concerned their is no IDE STANDARD. Every manufacture has THEIR OWN STANDARD. I am going to give my brother my old Maxtor IDE drive when I take it out after getting the 4GB SCSI drive in and it will be very intersting what problems I may run into when I install it on the Primary Controller with his 850MB WD drive which are both supposed to be ATA drives. I don't really expect a problem, because Maxtor was one of the most compatible drives made. They are both EIDE drives and both can do block transfers. There may have to be a comprimise on the block transfer size to get the best performance from both drives. But if I recall corrcctly they both work well at 16 blocks. I think I did benchmarks on both systems and they both liked 16.
