It was supposedly faster than ANSI.SYS, Yes I did the same thing for MSDOS, I used some ANSI replacement (don't remember which one, may have been NANSI as it was quite popular) but after installing Novell DOS 7 I used the Novell version as it had all the capabilities that MSDOS did not have.
