I just got off the WEB after visiting both Web Sites. AMI.COM has several downloadable files, including a M/B ID checker, and a flash Bios for genuine Ami Bios. (Not guaranteed to work on all OEM Bios versions). They recommend holding down a key during bootup, or disconnecting the keyboard, so that the bootup screen will pause and then you can copy the bios information from the top left corner and bottom left corner of the screen. Youn can then use this information to research the manufacturer of the M/B and Bios. Award has been bought up by Phoenix but you can still go to the AWARD.COM page and download information. There is one loooong list of numbers you can get off the bootup screen and use to identify the manufacturer of the M/B, and a Y2k compliance program is also available. I suppose the same Keyboard trick will work here as for the Ami Bios. They are also selling the CHECKIT System Diagnostic program, (I guess this replaced the old AWARD Diagnostics), and a dead M/B problem identifier circuit board. I happened on one of the circuit boards at a computer show last month and it is pretty good. It has a 2 digit LED display and you check the code to find out where to look for the problem. Cost me $30US. CHECKIT comes with a more sophisticated board and normally sells for about $145US. At the Show they were selling it for $99US. Hope this helps someone out there. And of course there is always MR. BIOS, however expensive, for those who love their old Tandy and Commodore and AST 286's/386's.
