The hint on verify is independent of the NWCACHE options. When verify is enabled, NWCACHE cannot defer any writes, that is, it writes through (even if NWCACHE /S shows differently). Try VERIFY OFF and you should see a big gain in performance of the disk I/O system, when you also use /DELAY=something.
