When using shared printers on a network, you need to share each printer and give each a name. Then if you are logged on to the server, workstation or workgroup, you can access those printers. If you have three computers and each have two printers, each computer needs to share it's printers. Computer AAA could have printers AAA1 and AAA2 for example. Computer BBB could have printers BBB1 and BBB2, computer CCC could have printers MAIN and SPARE. Thus you could have access to six printers on the above network. You could also limit the number that can be shared and keep some for only access on a particular computer. If you do share printers on a network, do not try and access them directly as another user could be using a particular printer you are accessing directly. All shared printers should be accessed by it's network name. You can also get serial printers and connect them to comm ports as well. As far as I know, you can only have 3 printer ports and 4 comm ports with DRDOS without special drivers for more. These drivers generally come with multi serial port cards. I suppose the same would be true for parallel cards. But with all the stuff already loaded into memory for a server, who needs more drivers!:-) Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Greuter" To: Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2000 6:07 AM Subject: changing maximal number of printers > Hello > > I have added a new computer to my little network running DRDOS 7.02 > and PNW.
