Yes they work okay, but I said "These are a pain for installing in 95" You have to do everything in a specific order and reboot after installing each component. I have done many 95 re-installs and it is a very long procedure. I should have clairified this to 95 OSR2. 95A did not seem to have these problems. You could not use the update for USB and PIIX drivers after 95B is installed. You can with 95A. Thus you have to install USB before you install other drivers. Then PIIX drivers, then AGP, etc. > >The Pro is also a screamer for > >DOS. > > CAUTION! There are some DOS programs do not work well on Pentium Pros (such > as the Pentium Pro, II and III). The II and III ARE NOT Pentium Pro. Do not confuse them. The II and III were optimized for WINDOZE. i.e. instead of the hardware dictating things, now the MS crap for software is dictating the hardware!!!! > >Also a trick on how to use the WINDOZE 3.x Swapfile for > >both Linux and WINDOZE 3.x and how to make a Linux swap partition and use it > >in both WINDOZE 3.x and Linux. > > I recently debated this on another list. In my experience (with NT 4, 9x > and 3.x) the computer will be faster and more stable without a swap even if > you have much less memory than "required" and run several programs at once. What do you do when you run out of virtual memory???? The system will crash and burn! I have run out of VM and 9x tells me to close applications. I start closing them and by the time I get done I have closed them all and still cannot run anything. I have not had this happen yet in NT. However, in NT you can actually stop individual processes much like you can in Linux. 9x is a piece of crap anyway. AT least when you get that Big Bad Blue Screen in ME, you can actually recover. Although I did not use it long I had enough of them to convince me to dump that piece of crap too. Pat _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
