: whelming popularity of MS Windows had made it redundant. 

  The source of the NWDOS ViewMAX was released by Caldera with the source
of GEM. Its desktop will run on current FreeGEM builds - see Heinz Rath's 
pages at <http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Screen/4835/>; but beware,
the project was killed before all the bugs were removed, and it tends
to crash without warning.
