Donald,
You have to understand Uncle Bill.  He stopped development of almost all
those old nasty DOS things back when a 486 was a great machine.  All MSD
sees , normally is a 486 because most pentiums have the same basic
architecture,  and the program says 'wow, look at that faaassst 486.
I just used the copy that came on my WIN98 cd and it would not tell me
that I have a pentium.  Not on my 765 thinkpad or my 233mxCyrix.

There are a lot of public domain and shareware programs out there. You
can get a crippled copy of AMI Diags off the shareware boards, but you
might just want to try this one...

This program has all the bells and whistles and will 
problably  tell you much more than you really want to 
know, but then you can never know to much about PC's.
They change to fast. The shareware copy has the usual
 thirty day evaluation period, and then you are encouraged 
to pay for the registered copy.
