For starters, without letting the replyer have the original message at top how will anyone know what the reply is for (espcially on larger mailing lists where perhaps one person sends two replys under the same subject). Perhaps this isn't a problem for you but I would find it a rather big problem. Secondly, when the reply is put after an original part it's much easier to "see" (if you don't mind the use of that word) what the reply is refering to. And third, several other people that are blind doesn't seem to have any problem. Are you certain there's no way you can't make the program ignore lines starting with a ">"?
