I am using SemWare's (outdated, but fast and small) QEDIT 2.xx and TSE Pro 2.5x under Novell DOS 7 - DR-DOS 7.03 and with QEDIT have not experienced the problems you mentioned. Using TSE under DR-DOS, however, use of XMS or EMS memory will sometimes cause protection faults. The behaviour seems to change depending on the size of the files loaded and the count of task running simultanously. Fiddling with the various memory options in the TASKMGR.INI file may help, and switching use of XMS and EMS off in TSE (setting 0) helps too. Also try to switch EMM386 /DPMI=off /MULTI=off, although this works OK for me. In any case, check the EMM386 settings so that you exclude any memory regions in use for ROMs and AddOn hardware (/EXCLUDE). MEM /AP will give you an overview of the current setup. > Also, my screenreader will only read the top 3 lines on each screen at > times. Any suggestions on what could be the problem. Not actually, because screenreader software is very proprietary. Does this also happen under MS-DOS? It could be the load order of the files in CONFIG.SYS is wrong, but without better details it could be almost anything (including configuration settings of the screenreader software itself).
