I have six computers running one version of dos or another and all loaded up with dos programs. I don't use win95/98 but I have win3.1/3.11 loaded as an option with a menu to load programs so my grandchildren and friends kids can use the games I have collected over the years. It is my understanding that over two thirds of the computers in the world are 8088/86/186/286 and are prevelent in third world countries where microsoft won't even sell software for fear of piracy. I read on one of the german geos/new deal sites where they were trying to spread the dos and new deal programs in the schools in africa with donated pc's, xt's & at's. most of the schools have no money ro buy the computers and software they need. same in other third world countries. so there is still a large group of dos users out there. we just need to get the word out to the right people that something is available. there is a lot of freeware out there which runs well on the old systems. last time i looked even windoze 95/98 was still a software application running on top of a dos shell... would you believe msdos7 & 8??
