I know they are working very hard on these and other issues, and there will sure be major improvements in future releases, even though they don t have a few hundred engineers working on the operating system... ;-) So please stand by... Personally I am quite happy even with the current status of DR-DOS. It s more stable than Novell DOS 7, has alot of new usability features (as a matter of the fact, most people don t see them, as long as everything is in good condition), and most of the compatibility issues (e.g. QEMM, WIN) introduced by new features such as YEAR2000 or FILESHIGH/FCBSHIGH can be worked around quite easily (though both mentioned examples are clearly caused by limitations in other software and not by bugs in DR-DOS) or are only temporary problems (e.g. to load COMMAND.COM in HMA). However, I think there should be more FAQs and comprehensive trouble shooting documentation to help common users. Maybe someone would like to compile and keep up to date what we re discussing in these mailling lists?
