You need to change the exec shell to true in the > opendos.ini file. That will solve the problem of opening a dos session. I'm using DR-DOS 7.02. There is no 'exec shell' statement in drdos.ini. Could this be added. I did some more tests last night after downloading 4DOS 6.01 (current version is 5.52). I took a look at its pif file (lot my original) and made necessary changes. A 4DOS box then opened up just fine. But only a few times. A DOS box also opened up just fine in a window when I made similar changes to the dosprompt.pif (note: DOS box will refer to command.com in this discussion). Again, only a few times. One thing that seems to work better is if I set them to full screen in the pif. In 4DOS' case it worked fine all the time. Then alt-enter to a window was okay. With DOS it used to not work even full screen. Good thing about full screen is I can alt-tab to the desktop and use the taskmanager (ftaskman) to kill it. Still more testing. My new problem is progman.exe no longer works for reasons unknown. It starts up but just sits there with the hourglass going. No groups or anything popup. Ach! Marc
