I happened to have a spare primary partition on my first hard drive so I thought I'd give it a try. My first question is, how do I go about setting up a dial-up Internet connection? Is there something like a WinSock (DOSSock?) I need to obtain? What about a dialer; can a PPP connection be started with regular communications software, or is an integrated dialer needed? While I am fairly proficient in MS-DOS, I have to admit that all my Internet time has been done in Windows. Next, I am intending to network with a Win95 computer (LAN connected). My other boot partition is Win95, so both systems are currently using NetBEUI on Client for MS Networks. The way I see it I have 2 choices here: 1. On the Win95-only system, install {Client for Netware Networks -or- Novell Netware Workstation Shell} -and- an IPX protocol (either MS IPX/SPX or Novell IPX ODI); or 2. On the Caldera system, forget about Personal Netware and install MS networking with either Workgroups Add-on for MS-DOS or WFWG 3.11. Does anyone have any comments on which of those choices is best, and why? (Or, have I missed any better choice?) Bandwidth overhead must be minimal, because the hardware deployed is a pair of 8-bit ARCnet cards. (Note: I am planning to install WFWG in any event. I just am not knowledgeable about which networking software is preferable for a small peer LAN.) Tying the 2 issues together, it seems there may be a third choice: use TCP/IP for the LAN. Would that make sense? TIA for your comments & suggestions. -- | My PGP public keys are available on keyservers | 0xBEC0E1C9 (RSA, 1994/10/01) or | 0x277B0DD9 (DSS/D-H, 1998/02/13)
