I had a similar problem on my system.  The problem is that your shell
line in the dconfig.sys file on your boot drive is pointing to a
command.com other than the one in d:\opendos (substitute your drive and
directory). 

shell=d:\opendos\command.com d:\opendos /p:c:\autodos7.bat  (or some such
line as that).
