It is called Ecofax and it was specifically developed for blind and visually impaired users. > >I am encountering an "runtime error 002 at 04D1:0c34." > This looks very much like a message emitted by Borland s RTL (Runtime Library as > for Borland Pascal etc.). In this case, runtime error 2 means "File not found". That's correct. It is the "File not found" error. > >Has someone some idea on how I can understand this error? Yes, that's correct. I have tested Ecofax on my OD 7.01 test PC, and here it works without any problem. > But you can try to set FILES/FCBS to a higher value, or play with the SHARE parameters. > Also verify that the %TMP%/%TEMP% variables are pointing to a writeable drive/ > directory, which has enough free space for temporary files. It is possible that the directory pointed to by either TMP or TEMP (Ecofax recognizes both) is not a valid one. In such cases you usually get a clear error message -- not a simple runtime error message. But there was one customer that reported a similar problem some time ago, and, as I found out, he had a quite unusual network setup for the temporary directory. The problem was solved by setting TEMP to point to a valid network directory. > Usually, such poor error messages indicate badly written software... > It s probably not a problem with OpenDOS. While I generally tend to agree with your statement, having been a programmer for quite a lot of years now on almost everything Intel-based from MINIX to OS/2 Warp 4, including Linux and FreeBSD, I know out of personal experience that you simply can't foresee each and every situation a given program will be used in... That's why there is a technical support. And that's also why I'm committed to improve the program through further releases. Ecofax is being used by quite a lot of happy blind and visually impaired users around the world, despite the occasional installation quirks. But the same is true for OpenDOS as well -- even if I find it a very interesting project. Cleto Pescia Eurisco Information Systems
