You were apparently quite correct; I followed your advice and instructions and booted clean with no drivers, installed Win3.1, and run it successfully on OpenDOS emm386 without himem.sys at all. I installed Internet Explorer 3.03 later, and got one sharing violation as the setup ran - had to run the install a second time -- but other than that i have had no problems. That was probably buggy MS installer code anyway :Q. I re-installed OpenDOS over Win3.1 to get the OpenDOS support and configuration for Windows that I didn't have to begin with. Kind of a lot of work but that's how it goes. At least the OpenDOS installation is amazingly friendly and convenient. Caldera sure makes MS look bad. Best, soren andersen
