I use lots of OSes, because there is no single OS that does everything. I use OpenDOS on my Linux box for when I need to run a DOS program under DOSEMU. I use OpenDOS on my NT box because sometimes there are DOS programs that just won't run under NT. I use NT because it is much more stable than Windows 95, yet it still runs most Win32 apps. I still hang on to Windows 95, though, because my television card doesn't work under NT, and the BT848 drivers under Linux are slightly buggy; in addition, Windows 95 seems to do a much better job at games than Windows NT. I use Linux because it is free and is easy to set up as a firewall (I use IP masquerading). I also like Linux because it is a great OS for just playing around. As a former DR DOS user, I really like the way things work under OpenDOS (though they are not always compatible with my multi-boot setup). OpenDOS is an OS that is currently under development, as opposed to MS-DOS which Microsoft is no longer developing. Despite what people want to believe, DOS isn't dead. and still has a role even in a world with more powerful operating systems; even 95 chokes on some games. Paul Brannan pbranna AT clemson DOT edu
