 DEBLOCK= FFFF for maximum performance. If a system has problems,
 A000, or even 0000 helps, but dramatically slows down the system.
 The internal default is automatic detection, which would already result
 in FFFF.

 MULTITRACK= related to DEBLOCK, but vice versa in some way. 
 Should be ON if the systems supports MULTITRACK reads. Most systems
 do. MULTITRACK=ON is DEBLOCK=FFFF, MULTITRACK=OFF is
 DEBLOCK=0.

 FILES[HIGH]= Usually about 30-60
 FCBS[HIGH]= Usually 1.
 Note, that on some systems, moving these structures in UMBs will
 dramatically reduce performance. On other systems, there is no
 impact on speed, and moving them high is recommended, if your
 applications don t have problems with handles in UMBs (some have).

 VERIFY= usually OFF (personally I prefer ON). VERIFY OFF can 
 improve performance depending on the implementation of a drives
 driver, but also increases the risk of non-detected write errors.

 NWCACHE loaded? NWCACHE works at maximum performance
 with /DELAY=5000 /FLUSH=OFF, and with VERIFY=off.

Well, yes, hard disk format speed has been improved dramatically.
But I think, that s not what you re looking for... ;-)

M$ INTERLNK/INTERSERVER. Yes, this is a known problem, 
and will probably not be solved. Note, that this is not a problem 
with OpenDOS, but with these programs, which are not DOS-compatible.
The server heavily patches around in undocumented DOS. There are
alot of better solutions on the market, and you could also use PNW
to establish a connection via a serial/parallel port (SLIP/PPP MLID
driver needed, I think it s part of the WebSpyder package). And there 
are also programs like DN, NC, FASTLYNX, or LAPLINK. (FILELINK 
might be a little slow nowadays).

EMM386/DPMS have been improved, but changes can not be called major.
However, sometimes even minor changes can be significant... ;-)
(it depends on the programs you re using, I think.) DPMI has still problems
with some applications. However, other DPMI applications (e.g. BP7) are
running smootly, even under the multitasker.
