Yes, more and more every day. ;o) I mainly used DOS for writing my own programs for years because I was spoiled rotten with the Borland C 3.1 IDE and online help, etc... However now that Robert Hoehne has ported his DJGPP IDE (RHIDE) over to Linux, I've started using it in Linux. It has the same interface as RHIDE for DOS/DJGPP, which is VERY similar to the Borland C IDE. Online help is available for EVERYTHING under the sun. Now, I do most of my programming in Linux. DOS is a game machine to me, and a Windows 3.1 executor. Games and most other DOS stuff ALSO run in Linux via DOSemu - albeit without sound. Win 3.1 runs rather crummily under DOSemu though. Linux is a wonderful OS with tonnes of cool features, and stability that is tough to beat. I'm going to start looking at the "ALLREADY GPL'D" freedos project more closely now, and go for a GNU DOS system. > So what is any advantage of any Dos over linux? Different strokes for different folks. Linux is a REAL operating system. DOS is a hacked kludge made in a hurry, then continued on and kludged for nearly 20 years. It is not completely obsolete, and wont be for some time. Linux is overkill for many users. The advantage that DOS has over Linux is that it is SIMPLE, and is very well documented. It doesn't change much. Fortunately, I've taken the time to learn Linux, and use it now for almost 2 years. Life is good. DOS isn't dead yet though... Speaking of which... Does anyone have the FreeDOS homepage URL handy? The FreeDOS mailing list and subscription info? I *KNOW* my efforts will be useful there, and source is available NOW! I just hope they aren't supporting the DEC Rainbow. ;o) BWWAAHAHAHHAHAHA! Couldn't resist... sorry... Mike A.
