Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Precedence: bulk Hello from Great Falls, Montana! First a brief history and then onto my question. :) My primary interest is with Linux and I've been using it almost exclusively for 2.5 years now. I keep up on all of the Caldera stuff and went through the CND betas, CND 1.0, and now OpenLinux Standard. Since I keep up with Caldera stuff, I've been interested in OpenDOS as well. Does that sound familar? Anyway, I'm mainly interested in OpenDOS because of WebSpyder. I have Linux on a laptop and that's what I use MOST of the time. So... I thought I'd give WebSpyder a shot on my wife's desktop 486. She uses MS-DOS and MS WGFW 3.11. I don't dare try to install OpenDOS on HER machine because if anything happens to it (as things usually do with Windows 3.x anyway) it'll be my fault. So, I decided to install WebSpyder on it... and it altered a few of the system configuration files. When I want to play with WebSpyder on her machine, I just want to be able to cd to the dir it's in and run it by hand. I don't want it or any of the Novell PPP stuff to be part of the bootup process... but it appears that it changed a few things and I tried my best to clean things up but there is some reference somewhere to NETWORK.DRV in some file that I can't find. I cleaned up all of the .ini files that are common, the autoexec.bat of course, but I'm still getting some sort of bitch message when my wife runs MS Windows. Upon startup, a warning dialog says, NETWORK.DRV not found. It doesn't appear to affect anything but I'd like to get rid of the message so I can make my wife a happy camper. Anyone have any clue where the reference to NETWORK.DRV is that I might have overlooked? Trust me, I pruned all of the standard files (that come up with the System Editor program) so I'm lost where Windows is finding that reference. Please help! Otherwise, noting the given known bugs with WebSpyder, I'm fairly impressed with it and look forward to the final release. I've got my parents using a WebTV right now because they are computer illiterate and I wanted them to have basic Internet access without having to fight with learning a computer. WebSpyder looks like it might be a better alternative in the not too distant future. TYL, Scott Dowdle - Great Falls, Montana - Linux OS User dowdle AT icstech DOT com
