I basically had it set up for a quick jump into DOS to do dirs, copy files, view text files, etc no big apps... Now I've got DOSemu 0.66.5 running quite well with DOS 6.22, and I want to setup DOSemu with OpenDOS as well (for obvious reasons). I have a hdimage made up for DOS 6.22 that setup-hdimage made no-problem. I'd like to do the same with OD, and I'm sure that it is simple as well. The concern I'm having is about the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files that will be used. Let me briefly describe my current configurations and also how I'd like to have OpenDOSemu (tm) ;o) setup. When I boot my system, I get System commander, from there I can pick DOS 6.22, OpenDOS, or Linux. They all boot just fine, and both OD and MS are on my C: drive. MSDOS uses CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. OpenDOS uses DCONFIG.SYS and OPENEXEC.BAT. This works beautifully and there are no file conflicts. Now, when I set up DOSemu to use MSDOS, I didn't want my normal CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT files touched by DOSEMU whatsoever, so I came up with the following solution: The MSDOS hdimage contains CONFIG.EMU and NO autoexec.bat, the CONFIG.EMU immediately installs an LREDIR and is resumed by C:\CONFIG.EMU on my hard disk. CONFIG.EMU is processed and then 4DOS started, which then processes AUTOEMU.BAT. That way OpenDOS, MSDOS, and MSDOSemu all have SEPARATE configuration files. Now that I want to also have an OpenDOSemu set up, I want it to have separate configuration files as well. Here is what I'd like to do, and I'm wondering if it would work before actually trying it: Make an OpenDOS hdimage with setup-hdimage. Boot into it, and RENAME the CONFIG.EMU file to DCONFIG.EMU. Will DOSemu's Emusys directive work with DCONFIG.EMU too, or is it internally limited to using CONFIG.EMU? If DCONFIG.EMU will work, then I'll set it up the same way as my MSDOS one is by putting a copy of DCONFIG.EMU on my C:\. Then I can have an OPENEMU.BAT for OpenDOSemu. Will this actually work properly? If not, I'd like to hear some suggestions as to how to do it. I know it's probably pretty easy, but I want some feedback first. I'd like to know what everyone elses different experiences are, with such a setup so I can choose what is best for me. Thanks in advance. Mike A.
