Yes! this is needed! once a package breaks a few mb's, it should be split up (if it's practical - some single programs may be this large, but it wouldn't be reasonable then). DJGPP is distributed this way, but it's huge. But how many people have downloaded 4 MB's of the file from the web server only to get timed-out? Yes, break it up!
