This makes EDIT somewhat faster... EDIT accepts the old WordStar-hotkeys (same as Borland IDEs). Block marking can easily be done by for example: +- Start Block +- End End +- Copy Block +- Move Block +- Write Block +- Read Block Novell's/Caldera's EDIT can manage files greater 64KB, as long as there is enough swap space on the drive (MS-DOS EDIT before MS-DOS 7 cannot handle larger files). Beware of writing very large files back to disk if there is not enough space for the .BAK file. In some situations, some versions of Novell's EDIT truncated the original file without displaying an error message. So, your changes might have gone lost. What's more dangerous: If you edit the file again without notifying this problem and write it back to disk, your backup will also have got lost!!! Apparently, a partial fix for this was with the latest updates to Novell DOS, and I think, the patch is not yet included in OpenDOS. Of course there are better editors, such as my favorits QEDIT and TSE.
