Can you post your 4DOS.INI? > I'd post mine, but I don't have it here at work. Are you using 4dos as the shell (with a shell=4dos.com line in config.sys) or are you running it from the command line? When I try running 4dos as the shell, it GPFs. If I run it at the command line, 4dos runs fine, but I have to load a new copy for every task.
