Well, I've never had any problems/heard of any problems with 4DOS
that relate to compatibility.  In fact I just ran Nethack under
4DOS for a couple of hours and it ran just fine.  Therefore I
conclude that something else must be wrong.  Have you analyzed it
under a debugger?
