It's been done at least once. Wayne Buttles has ported Lynx 2.7 and also made a smaller combination of Lynx 2.4 and DOSLynx to produce Bobcat. I've only tried Bobcat and it works pretty well in pure text mode although it can spawn all sorts of things if you're so inclined.
